Hold onto your ODM gear, Assassin's Creed fans! The latest update for Assassin's Creed Shadows on PS5 is here, but it's a bit of a mixed bag. Patch 1.1.6, clocking in at around 4GB, has landed, bringing with it some exciting new content, but also a few caveats.
This update introduces not one, but two new free quests. The first is a wild crossover with Attack on Titan, where Naoe and Yasuke must team up to investigate a titan-sized threat. Sounds epic, right?
But here's where it gets controversial... This Attack on Titan quest is only available until December 22nd. Furthermore, the coolest Attack on Titan-themed armor shown in the promotional material is locked behind a paid DLC pack. Talk about a letdown!
Ubisoft has done this before, with a previous crossover with Dead by Daylight. While you can earn cosmetic rewards, including a crystal katana for Naoe, the most sought-after items are behind a paywall.
Meanwhile, the second free quest, titled 'A Puzzlement,' has the game's two protagonists solving a comical dispute. Upon completion, both characters will learn new techniques, which is always a bonus:
- Naoe will learn Yasuke's war kick ability.
- Yasuke will learn how to dispatch enemies stealthily in a non-lethal way.
This update also marks the end of Ubisoft's 'Fall Roadmap' for Shadows, but we can assume that support will continue for a while longer.
The Original Scoop:
Ubisoft has just announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows' next collaboration will be with... Attack on Titan! A new quest tasks Naoe and Yasuke with stopping a titan transformation. The quest itself went live on November 25th. However, it's a limited-time deal, only available until December 15th.
What do you think of this crossover? Is the limited-time availability a deal-breaker? Do you think it's fair to lock the best gear behind a paywall? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
